Introduction

We are a 90 pitch camping and caravanning site. All pitches are grass: some are slightly sloping but there are numerous level pitches with easy access on and off.

Bus routes to Eastbourne, Tunbridge Wells, and Heathfield. Two bus stops are located 300 yards away with an even tarmac pavement to both.

The village of Horam is a quarter of a mile away and can be reached easily by an even tarmac pavement. Car parking is free and available in the village. A RADAR toilet is situated the car park.

Arrival and car parking facilities

The entrance to the site is level and tarmacked. Visitors can park close to reception and there are no steps. Reception is clearly signed.

Reception

The route to reception is step-free to the front of the building; the path to reception is slightly sloping. There is no weather protection at the door. The door is 70cm wide with a small step of 30mm height.

The counter is 98cm high and a notepad and pen are available if required. Lighting is uniform in the reception building. Brochures and information are all accessible and set in a display cabinet.

The office is 5mx3m and is open from 8.30am-8pm.

Touring Facilities

There are no pitches designated for disabled people, however there are pitches close (within 5 metres) to the facilities available upon request. These pitches are level.

There is lighting around the outside of the toilet facilities. Further lighting is provided around the site by the lights on the hook-up posts and by a lamp post located in the centre of the park. There is one tarmac road and one gravel road around the site.

Toilet facilities

Access to the facilities is level around the toilet block, each entrance has a step of 10cm, and all doors open outwardly and are kept unlocked. There are privacy cubicles for both male and female visitors. There are 10WCs, 7 showers, 4 washing up sinks, one waste disposal unit and two refuse points.

All the floors are tiled and the tiles are non-slip. The taps are push and release. The showers are operated by levers. The lights are on a sensor which is activated when customers enter the facilities so lighting is always good.

There is an accessible shower and toilet which is kept locked. The key is given out by reception. The access is level and concrete. The shower is of the lever type.

The washing up sinks are 1.45m high, the sinks in the male and female facilities are 1.30m high. Chemical disposal point is 1 metre high.

The laundry room has a stackable washing machine and dryer, coin operated and the coin slot is 95cm high from floor level. All signs are clear and in large print.

Play area

There is a small play area on site with a fence on three sides with a gate as the entrance. A bench is provided as seating.

Additional information

A Fire Risk Assessment has been undertaken in line with current regulations. Fire exits and fire extinguishers are clearly signed. A fire action plan is displayed at each Fire extinguisher point. There is no payphone but a telephone is available 24 hours a day at reception.

A new playground September 2010. Hard standings March 2011. 16 amp hook-up posts March 2011. New heated toilet block March 2011.
